The courtyard large, and rather open, with only a single, medium sized fountain at its center. The ground is tiled in cobblestone, and the space between the walls are meant to accommodate a small village market in the event of the near by Capital City's fall. Precautions are made to house civilians in the lower keeps within the castle, as well as hospitalize and care for them.

Heres with her entourage of soldiers following close behind, descended the steps leading to the double doors of the castle. The Queen looked over her shoulder, the knights who followed looked pallid and grim, lacking courage. She was planning to head eastward, past the mountains where that giantess lay, and she seemed to be the only one who was willing to take that risk to cross that Mountain when it came to it. She sighed, closing her eyes and frowning. She could sense it... the unease to follow her command. Even as she ride among her soldiers...

She paused before the entrance to the stables, then turned to them. "None of you have to accompany me if you are too afraid. None of you are beast kin... and most of you lack the strength and courage. I need men who can fight at a moment's notice, who are willing to lay their lives for the benefit of our country. Do you wish for the Black Snake to ensnare us with his coils?! If not, then ride! Ride with me and we will reclaim our lost lands!" She exclaimed, drawing her spear skyward.

The rallying speech of the queen Heres was interrupted by the sound of rapid beats in the air. Most would have thought it the beating of War Drums, until was accompanied by a loud whine that overlayed the rapid beating. Then the sight of what looked like a giant metal insect to most of the people flew over the castle at high speed. It was, in fact a Helicopter fresh from Scardia's capital Cretu.

The massive metal behemoth eventually landed in the courtyard. The rotors were kicking up a strong wind that slowly died as the blades slowed to a stop. The side of the machine opened to reveal a shorter man dressed as a butler. But he was quickly followed by a tall, muscular man in a red suit, with shoulder length blonde hair and a moustache.

The taller man looked about the courtyard and smiled slightly, but the smile did not reach his eyes. "It's almost like looking back through time, Thomas. It's amazing that this island has managed to stand like a bulwark against the Domescadian agression for as long as they have."

The Queen and her vassals turned to the mechanical beast, alarmed and rattling in their armour. The Blaise spear began to glow blue, a wispy flame running off its tip, which now split out from one another, becoming a trident in appearance:

Her polished armour gleamed in the light of the sun, and though she did not point her blade at the new comer, she did keep it at the ready.

"You Sir!" She exclaimed, over the dying shrill of the blades before they came to a sudden stop. The Queen approached, slightly ahead of her guards and got a better look of the man who arrived. It was a mortal man, who's blond bangs covered his face from her perspective. He wore a detailed foreign suit in crimson shade, and unlike his servant, was tall, muscular and with a bit of a darker complexion. She held back her spear, sternly looking upon him.

"State your nation of origin, your name and or title. To have entered the Keep so boldly, and without sending word of such an arrival, are you a friend? Or foe, of the Lux Kingdom?" she asked in a cool, direct tone; trying to keep her eyes off the alien looking machine that was now in the expanse of the courtyard.

Valundar turned his head, and looked at the armored beastkin woman who addressed him. He instinctively thought that she was perhaps a guard, or a captain of the soldiers, until his eyes landed on her tiara. and he smiled again.

Valundar handed the queen her own letter back to her, sealed with the Blade-Breaker crest. "I do not make this offer lightly, your grace. You have no reason to fear me."

As he turned, she couldn't help but let her eyes drift to his unique right eye. He was a man in his late thirties, with a dapper thin moustache. He was attractive in appearance, with one blue eye and one almost doll like eye where the right should have been.

"A noble from the Scardian house of Blade-Breaker?" she inquired, raising a brow before he handed her the letter abruptly, causing her to lean back slightly, out of reflex.

She stabbed the spear into the cobble stones of the courtyard, and looked up, somewhat embarrassed, holding the letter in her right hand to hand back to him, lifting her cape a little as well, while her left hand grabbed hold of the end of her braid and brought it up past her mouth, in an attempt to mask her embarrassment:

"Lord Blade-Breaker, forgive me if I was at all rash..." She looked to her servants wearily and nodded her head towards the new arrivals. "I didn't presume any would deliver my invitation in person. I say you are well above the prospect candidates we've received notice of... You are the first to actually have the good graces of 'showing up'." she says, sounding slightly annoyed at the mention the 'others'. Of course they didn't show up, there hasn't been anyone else besides him! her mind screamed.

She turned to face Valundar directly, who was a great eight inches taller than her. "If you may Lord Blade-Breaker, despite your flying contraption, I would assume your journey was a long one. Do you wish to retire within the Castle as we make a formal interview of your feats?" she asked.

Valundar smiled again and merely bowed slowly to Heres. "As your grace wishes." he said, turning to Thompson and his pilot. "Await here for my return. No point in unloading if we cannot stay after this interview." he said to them out of earshot, before he approached the queens entourage, and awaited them to guide him to where he was supposed to go.

In an offhanded gesture, Valundar burned the letter with a slight flare of power from his hand that consumed the paper in yellow flames. the sight orb in his left eye lit up slightly in response to his power, but blackened again once it was done.

Once the helicopter descended, the Queen stepped out, escorting the young man and Kitsune, from the vehicle and towards the castle. As her guards approached, ready to skewer the Kitsune on sight she held her hand out. "Halt your blades! This is a royal order, no one is to harm this Fox till I have had a word with her! Escort her to one of the guest rooms, she is to be looked over by my physician to check her status remains stable!" she barked, before turning to Cyrus. "Please, take he with you. My people will show you the way." she says with a smile before walking away. She needed to take a bath... so badly.

Valundar finally re-entered the castle grounds, quickly letting the stable hand take the reins of the queens horse, and walked up the steps to the main keep entryway. Val had to get cleaned up, and many of the nights guards and servants were lighting torches, braziers, sconces and lanterns for the night. The hearth in the main hall was aflame, and warm. But at dusk, the keep was devoid of visitors and guests from the town, making the flickering shadows of the dwindling sunlight seem more ominous to an average person

"Hmm, so that is how some of the night tales from the dark ages got started. Dancing shadows on the wall." Val remarked with a turgrid half grin. he began to wander the halls, looking for anywhere he could get cleaned up. The blood of the Kitsune, as well as the slight blood trail on his left arm from where Heres had scratched him a little stained his clothes. Looking at his arm, Valundar raised an eyebrow a little. "To think, she managed to draw blood where swords, spears and axes could not breach... I must train harder it seems."

As Val spoke of the shadows, a shadow that flickered upon the wall moved. No doubt grabbing his attention, the shadow appeared like a sleek fox, tail swishing behind it, its fuzzy head seeming to turn towards Val, tilting slightly to the left in an 'inquisitive manner'; despite having no features due to it being a two dimensional shadow.

Ah...there he is. The Queens 'marked one', 'John Tank-Man', Space Marine. she giggled at her own humor, the shadow she cast appeared to do so as well, and strangely, a gap in the shadows made the fox 'smile' as its body buckled with silent laughter.

Hmm... he looks a bit preoccupied... Ooo, lets give'm some 'overtime'! Hehehe~ she thought mischievously.

Soon, a single word appeared in light pink flame, much like with Cyrus, however instead of yielding, this one said:

"Follow"

The shadow then turned away and began sprinting, as she hit the corners between walls, she seemed to transition from one to the next smoothly, before descending, and bounding down a hallway's left side wall.

Valundar scratched his head. "The kitsune?" he said, but the data from his sight orb's HUD told him the energy was hers. "Huh... she wants to lead me somewhere.

Following the jumping shadow, Valundar quickly assumed a gliding stance, and followed.

Getting out wasn't too hard for Fae, even with her newly acquired treasures. She looked down at the new blade for her collection and use. "Sword of Rose Thorns... the Fleur de lis, a Scardian weapon of unification..." she says softly to herself before glancing up at the pair of moons that lit up the blueberry night sky. It had been an interesting evening, where the young Vampire met an equally interesting human. A man like Val is what this decaying country needs. How long it will last? That is up to time. She thought, before hiding in the shadows. An armed guard yawns as he walks past her, unaware of her presence.

Once he was gone, she slipped back into the moonlight, and glances back at the castle. Hopefully it shall last the test of time. In either case, I should get going now before anymore guards show up. She then turns to face the high castle walls, unnaturally scaling their sheer face within a blink of an eye. She leaps off the high walls, towards the nearby forests.

Vice was outside, in the dark save for the small campfire he had been sitting around. He was leaning back, feet propped up on some crates that he and the other member's of Val's team had pulled from the helicopter. He yawned, the tin cup in his hand filled with Domescadian blend coffee, which was bitter yet smooth to the taste. He had offered some to a few of the Queen's guards, but they disliked the taste. He thought them as a bit odd, wearing full plate and using mostly outdated weaponry, granted they appeared to have been enchanted. It was much like how the Beijionese managed to survive into this era of modernization he supposed- skill.

He tilted his head back, the fire crackling nearby as he sips more of the dark fluid from his cup.

He blinked, noticing the flash of movement coming from the upper floors. He slowly raises a black box to his mouth, the radio crackling disturbing some of the Queen's guard hanging near the opposite wall, who gave Vice a wide breadth. "Thompson, this is Vice. Saw some suspicious movement on the... second or third floor? Looked like a woman leaping from the windows. She's skilled though, managed to jump... straight to the wall, and from there into the surrounding woods. Advise? Over." He says, releasing the button, listening closely for a reply from who essentially was 'the assistant manager' of this operation. Vice has been with Val's little group for at least a year now, having been recruited out of the Galideno Military Air Corps to his little outfit. Mercenary work paid a little more than his soldier's salary, and he admits, it felt good to be more than just a number. Val made him feel less like a grunt, but an individual. He liked it.

Vice cringed. "Eh, what did I say about that 'Sir' stuff, you make me sound old, old man." He teased, knowing that the elder gentleman was only being cordial and well mannered. He cringed again. "Well... I shouldn't sell some of those guys short... they're tough old bastards... but it sounds to me we need to increase our numbers." he replied over the comms, before looking around him, noting the one helicopter. "Like some modernized troops. I mean, I know he's not the King yet, but between Myer and myself... and well you of course, we aren't exactly the Luxian Aircorps." He chuckled, trying to shake off the unease that came from Sebastian Thompson's voice.

Thompson's voice ceased for a few more moments. "Our allies grows thin, but perhaps there are younger ones awaiting to pass the torch to..."

He frowned at the thought. He met Hrothor once, and he extruded that feeling like he could be just about anyone's grandpa- as in he just seemed so grandfatherly, wise and when he spoke you just had to listen to what he said. He had half jokingly suggested such a man was probably a ladies man in his youth, to which the old man had surprised him with not only incredible hearing, but a slight smile which almost all but confirmed his suspicions. Galaerion he never met, considering how deep his cover was; however his brother...

"Lord Galaerion's brother won't like that," He suggested. Though his brother was priestly and worked in the high temple in Galideno, Hell would hath no fury for his anguish and pain when he found out about his brother. "He doesn't need to give his life so readily, we could still make some use of him..." Vice said, with some regret in his voice, knowing he must have crossed some toes with that; but couldn't figure a good way of saying it. "Sorry," he says immediately after. "I don't know how to properly word that.." He sighed, before the mention of younger ones made him nod. "As for needing more recruits? Yeah... we need an army. And though the Queenie here will have a significant amount of bodies we can use, we definitely need some more modernized troops to use against Abdel Adham." He says, somewhat crudely, still thinking like a soldier, lowering the radio as the flames in the nearby fire began to rise a little, throwing Vicent off balance a little, almost as if he disturbed some sort of unseen entity. "...granted, this island's... weird. I mean, it seems... untouched. Not just with its people, but the very air it self. Its like... stepping onto a different world here, in Lux..." he questioned.

Thompson understood what Vice meant. "Indeed, his life still has value to those who care about him... Especially his daughter, whom he had only just reunited with earlier today. The one who will feel the loss most will be her and Lord Istion. Hrothor, his son's and all the remaining knights of the tower will miss him too, but we as warriors - those who have chosen the way of the sword - we all knew that death is the ultimate outcome on the battlefield. We face such a choice so that those who cannot, need not."

Thompson went silent as he listened to vice's words, and smiled. Lux's supply of Bavarium was because it was so close to a leyline of the Lifestream of the world - in a way, the world speaks more clearly here than anywhere else on the planet, and it reflects in it's nature, and it's people. "One day soon, you will learn why" Thompson said.

The old butler knew that most people knew the textbook definition of the Lifestream, but few had an open opinion on it for themselves, for they rarely thought about what was essentially the fundamental reason life existed on Galiavan.
